Recent work includes the following:

  • Representing one of a family of 4 owners of a farm, where our client is also the farming tenant, in relation to competing claims within the family and the sale of part of the land to the Local Authority by negotiation following service of a Compulsory Purchase Order.
  • Concluding at mediation a litigated dispute over defective building work at commercial premises in Harrogate, and pursuing enforcement of the settlement agreement before and after sale of the business to a third party.
  • Presenting and pursuing a £1m plus claim for a Surrey based client against a major UK food production conglomerate, for the right to a share in energy costs savings.
  • Bringing to settlement a claim by a Wiltshire client for loss of profit arising from breach of a “handshake” agreement.
  • Negotiating and settling a claim by a franchisee for misrepresentation and breach of contract.
  • Negotiating terms on which a family sharing our client’s house under an informal financial arrangement agreed to leave the property when the relationships started to break down.
  • Representing family members in various disputes over administration of estates, sale of property, division of the assets, and provision for minors.
  • Representing a charity in settling a dispute over final payments due to a national construction company under a £6m+ building contract.
  • Purchase of an office building, with creation of head-lease and sub-leases for the offices within it.
  • Conditional agreement for lease of a 3 unit manufacturing premises in Welwyn Garden City.
  • Preparation of Shareholder Agreement for an English company with Spanish and German component: related service agreements.
  • Settling and recording settlement of the terms of client’s filming assignment in China for a large multi-national.
  • Many business sales and purchases across the UK, involving transfers of property/leases, transfers of shares or assets, finance agreements, and TUPE issues.
